Bethany Pritchard

Shop Assistant

As Shop Assistant I have served the Sigma Design shop as a Jill-of-all-trades; working in the cleanroom, with the MJF printers, pickling, passivating, assisting with QC and more. I am always thrilled to learn more about the projects we are working on and interface with people from other teams. I take great pride in putting out high quality work with a quick turn around time, a great attitude, and being able to adapt as I balance different tasks.

My background in Semiconductor Manufacturing instilled in me a high quality standard and sense of urgency and efficiency. The culture and core values of Sigma Design captured my attention and stood out to me, ultimately leading me to make a departure from that industry to enjoy what makes Sigma so special.

Questions & Answers

How do you make people laugh?

I may not be the funniest, but I love to share a laugh or a smile and bring in homemade treats to share and make everyday a special day.

If you were a tool or piece of equipment, what would you be and why?

I would choose to be a sewing machine. Sewing machines are an adaptable tool that mixes technical and mechanical with the creative which speaks to my spirit and experience as an artistic person who also thrives in technical roles. With a sewing machine you can make utilitarian pieces like sails, parachutes or uniforms, but can also make beautiful clothes, quilts, and more. The opportunity to blend the aesthetic with the useful is what I love to seek out.

What's your favorite productivity hack or time-saving trick?

Grouping tasks that can be worked on in parallel and then prioritizing those groups of tasks based on deadlines allows me to create my to-do list more quickly and uncover synergies that save time, trips between locations, and be able to offer a clear idea of my capability and timeline for task completion to my manager .
