Mike Pullen

Director of Innovation

I am a Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager, and Director with 30 years of experience. My expertise includes management of cross-discipline engineering teams, engineering test plans, manufacturing drawings, tooling design, prototyping and design verification testing. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University.

I've always been fascinated by machines and how they work. Now I design those machines, and even better, I help coordinate the efforts of teams of smart people who can accomplish so much more than I could on my own.

Questions & Answers

How do you make people laugh?

I try to keep things light-hearted and I like to point out the absurd when I see it.

If you were a tool or piece of equipment, what would you be and why?

I'd choose to be a socket set. They're efficient, durable and useful almost anywhere. They are a go-to tool that can find a purpose on almost any job.

What's your favorite productivity hack or time-saving trick?

I've gotten a ton of use from a version of GTD inbox sorting. Everything gets sorted based on its needed effort and value. If I can tackle it in less than five minutes, I do it now. If I can get it done in less than 15 minutes, I put it in my to do list. If it is going to take more than 15 minutes I schedule it on my calendar. This really helps me be realistic about what I can accomplish on a given day, and it lets me set expectations about when requested items will really get done.
