Ryan Heppler

Sheet Metal Fabricator

I started with Sigma Design in the Spring of 2015 as an assembly Technician in the Lab. I quickly became fascinated by our little laser engraver, and helped drive the creation of the sheet metal department in the Model Shop when Sigma Design inherited a metal-cutting fiber laser. I am pretty much self-taught in sheet metal bending and flat generation, and continually strive for precision parts.

Questions & Answers

How do you make people laugh?

I have a strong streak of sarcasm that has proven to be humorous when unleashed at times of annoyance or stress. I will also break out the puns when the play of words strikes me.

If you were a tool or piece of equipment, what would you be and why?

I would be a swiss-army pocket knife, with all of the attachments. 20% of the attachents are very useful and get used daily, and the rest all have some use, even if nobody knows what they are for.

What's your favorite productivity hack or time-saving trick?

I have created several excel calculators for batching part requests to expedite material ordering and part tracking. I am also excellent at nesting multiple parts and batching similar parts for faster processing and fabrication.
