Drinks & Drones at Pendleton UAS - Sept 4

Madeline Walters

Test Technician

I am a test technician with a background in space physics, and I'm eager to learn more about why things work the way they do. I joined Sigma in 2024 after completing my master's degree in Space Engineering, where I worked on modelling data from NASA's Curiosity Rover and helped in developing spectrometers. I'm interested in all things space - science, design, instrumentation... anything that helps us learn more about our world and little corner of the universe. In my free time I love doing digital art, crotchet, and playing video games (and I'm always excited to talk about those things with anyone!)

Questions & Answers

How do you make people laugh?

I try to find humor in most things and tend to side with dry humor. Referencing obscure media in jokes no one will end up understanding is more so where I actually end up falling.

If you were a tool or piece of equipment, what would you be and why?

I'd be a good old fashioned pencil. Always there to take notes and draw out designs/schematics. I'm a very visual person so writing and drawing things out helps me to make things more of a reality in my head! This also helps me better explain a process to others.

What's your favorite productivity hack or time-saving trick?

Lists! It can sometimes be easy to get lost in the weeds on a project, but having a list with clear outlines of what needs to be done and when can help bring things back together smoothly and quickly so I'm not putting all my time into something that is completely irrelevant to the project/task.
