Victor Bruhn
Senior Mechanical Engineer
I started my Mechanical Engineering career back in the 20th century. I've done design, analysis, testing, and margin/qualification work on small one-person projects, large multi-disciplinary team efforts where collaboration is a major key to a successful design, and everything in between. My skill set includes injection molded, sheet metal, and machined part design, large assembly management, testing and data management, and design margin.
Questions & Answers
How do you make people laugh?
I'm a fan of slightly self-deprecating humor. Confidence is important, but at the same time I think it's important to not take one's self too seriously.
If you were a tool or piece of equipment, what would you be and why?
My dad had a pretty neat combination table saw/router table that was useful in so many ways. A good table saw is the starting point for just about any wood working project, and a router can be useful in various ways through all stages, from basic shaping to the fine details that take a project from good to great. That sort of completeness and flexibility is something I like to exercise in the course of any project I take on, so if I were a piece of equipment, I could do a lot worse!
What's your favorite productivity hack or time-saving trick?
I love a good custom macro tied to a keystroke, for instance for customizing the layout of imported .csv data files in Excel.
